Last night I completed one of my favorite shows off all time on Netflix. This popular show is known as "The 100" and is a series about surviving on a post-apostolic earth. 100 teenagers were sent down from space to see if earth was a livable place. It turns out that living in space saved their bodies from harmful radiation, and earth was a livable place for all of them. Even though this is true, the Sky-People are not alone. Dealing with Grounders and Mountain Men made living on earth very difficult. As the show progresses, new relations between the characters form and alliances are made. Led by Clarke, the Sky-People are willing to do whatever it takes to survive. Whether it's defending their camp, trying to find food, or fighting off the enemy, each episode is jam-packed and all have one theme in mind - humanity.
Now that you have a small summary of the show, lets move on to the real magic behind the TV show - the actors. I'll be reviewing some of my favorite actors/actresses from this show and tell you guys how exactly they made this show incredibly special. I have even found one of my favorite actresses of all time on this show, so let's start with her.
Top 5 Actors/Actresses in The 100 -
1. Eliza Jane Taylor (acted as Clarke Griffin):
Eliza is an Australian actress who originally worked on the other side of the world. This work not only included acting, but also bar-tending and waitressing. At one point, she was holding down 4 jobs at one time just to save enough money to move out to LA and become a full-time actress. When she got casted for the leading role in The 100, she knew it was going to change her life forever. If you have never watched the show, then you may not know how insanely talented Eliza Taylor is. Even though her character was a completely different person that she was in real life, the way she embodies Clarke and truly creates someone so special is incredible. Not only was her acting amazing, but her stunts were even better. They way she pulled off moves that only professions could do was great. Not to mention, does anyone else ship Clarke and Lexa as much as I do on the show?? Now Eliza Jane Taylor is one of my favorite actresses of all time, but what makes her standout to me is her personality in real life, not just her acting abilities.
2. Alycia Debnam-Carey (acted as Lexa)
Let me start off by saying again, LEXA AND CLARKE ARE MY OTP. Okay, back to business. Although I don't know as much information about the next actors as I do about Eliza, I still am obsessed with them all. Let's start about how freaking great of an actress Alycia is! Lexa was probably one of the hardest characters, in my opinion, to play and she absolutely killed it. I have never seen an actress who was so in touch with her character. Personally, I felt as if Lexa was a character who was real. It was like there was no acting at all, Alycia was just Lexa. I never even knew this, but along with The 100, Alycia was also on The Walking Dead! I also give props to Alycia for playing such a great love interest in Clarke's journey. I heard that their scenes were a little awkward for both of them to film, but props to the actresses who pulled it off and created one of the most iconic romances in televisions history.
3. Marie Avgeropoulos (acted as Octavia Blake)
Marie might be one of the most stunning actresses I have ever seen on my TV screen. I mean c'mon, she is all of my goals! I have recently been obsessing over Marie because of her serious acting skills. Nobody else would have been able to play the role as Octavia as well as she did. It's like the role of Octavia was written just for her. Every single episode I wanted to see how Maire would take her character to a whole other level, and she did not disappoint. Another large acting role that Marie has done was in The Lightning Thief. If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend any movie/show that has Marie in it. Each and every show I watch with her makes me love what I'm watching. Even if the movie is awful, I will still continue to watch it to see Marie kill her scenes. Octavia was another one of my favorite characters in the show. I loved her attitude and how big of a heart she had from the very beginning. I can't wait to see what Marie is able to do next in her career.
4. Bob Morley (acted as Bellamy Blake)
Bob, aka the love of my life, embodies Bellamy so well in The 100. I was shocked when seeing his acting ability and how well he was able to take on such a tough character. Besides being freaking cute as hell, the role that he had required an extreme amount of work emotionally and physically. Through the entire season I was always curious to see what Bellamy was going to do next and what would happen. I truly do believe that the show would not have been the same if anyone else were to have played Bellamy. Also, can we take a minute to realize how similar Bob and Marie look? I'm so glad the producers decided to cast them as brother and sister, brilliant. One of my favorite episodes was when Bellamy snuck into the Mountain Men's camp and acted as a guard there. You have to see it to believe it for yourself, but it was such an action-packed episode that Bob Morley absolutely destroyed.
5. Ricky Whittle (acted as Lincoln)
Can Ricky and Marie be together in real-life please? They are another one of my favorite couples on the show! I mean, who doesn't love Lincoln on the show? He was always such a good guy that loved Octavia more than life. This made me fall completely in love with him. Enough about Lincoln, let's talk about the actor behind the magic - Ricky Whittle! Aside from The 100, Ricky was also in NCIS! There was no doubt in my mind that Ricky was going to kill the roll of Lincoln. Even though Lincoln was associated with the grounders, I somehow found myself rooting for him to survive. Maybe it was just his dreamy eyes, but I'm telling you, he was incredible in this show. Lincoln could not have been an easy character to conform to, but Ricky did such an amazing job at it. I swear, Lincoln should have died 120 different times throughout the series. My guess is that the cast and crew loved Ricky too much to kill him off. Hey, I'm not complaining!
Why I Suggest This Show -
Typically, I am more of a fan of drama TV shows, but I was desperate to find a new Netflix show that I could binge-watch. No, I did not even expect to like this show, but yes, I fell completely in love with it after only one episode. Even though there is a tad bit of sy-fi in this show, there is also a ton of drama that drew me in to each and every episode. Have you ever seen the show Lost? It is very similar to that TV show, but aimed for a younger audience. Take 40 minutes out of your day and just watch the pilot to The 100. I promise you will not regret it. I have watched almost any show that you could imagine on Netflix, but this has to be one of my favorites of all time. In fact, I think I have to place it among my top 5. Trust me when I say that this show will have you dying with laughter one minute and then on the floor in tears the next. 10/10, would swipe right.
