Q&A WITH ABBIGAIL SINGER
Question #1 (asked via Twitter):
Q: "Who inspired you to start pursuing music?"
A: I think my whole family has had a large influence on me pursuing music. When I was younger, my parents would put me into plays and musicals, which is where my singing really started. I believe at the age of 10 or so, my grandparents bought me a keyboard for Christmas and it was the first instrument I ever learned to play. Since than, learning new instruments has been something everyone in my family encourages me to do. Although I don't receive lessons anymore, I find learning new things more rewarding when I do them myself. I push myself each and everyday to become a better musician, but none of this would be possible without the inspiration that my family gave me when I was younger.
Question #2 (asked via Snapchat):
Q: "When did you start posting covers online and gaining supporters?"
A: I posted my very first singing video on YouTube my freshman year in high school. I had been doing music for awhile, but I was just then realizing the effects of social media. I would say that I truly starting gaining supports after I posted my "Little Things by One Direction" cover. Shortly after then, I turned to Vine to post my music covers. This is where things really started to take off. I have gained a little over 250,000 THOUSAND views on my vines, which is insane. Since vine, I have also started posting weekly YouTube and Soundcloud covers in order to really expose myself and create new content for all of my supporters.
Question #3 (asked via Twitter):
Q: "If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?"
A: LOS ANGELES. Oh my gosh, I am absolutely 100% in love with that city. I don't think anyone will ever truly understand my obsession with LA. I would move there in a heartbeat, if I had the opportunity to. The vibe there is incredible and I don't think you can find that vibe anywhere else in the world. The moment I stepped foot into Los Angeles, it felt like home. Some may say it's the city of dreamers, but in reality, it's just the city of my dreams. So many amazing things happen out in LA, and it is the entertainment capitol of the world. It is full of creators who love the same things that I love. Not to mention, have you seen the views? Palm Trees. Oceans. Mountains. Cliffs. Could you ask for a better surrounding? I will live there one day, there is no doubt about that.
Question #4 (asked via Instagram):
Q: "Who are your favorite musicians? Actors?"
A: Hmmm... I have so many favorite musicians! I'll list just a few of them for you guys. Some of my favorite artists include Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, James Bay, MacKenzie Bourg, Shawn Mendes, Bea Miller, Drake, The Weekend, Beyonce, and Blaire Hanks. Each musicians brings such a different atmosphere to their music, and I love each and every one of them. I highly suggest listening to any of them if you ever get the chance! They are all incredible musicians. As far as actors go, I have a couple in mind. Eliza Taylor, Blake Lively, Alycia Debmam-Carey, and Chad Michael Murray are some of my favorite actors. As you guys know, I watch so many TV shows. Even though that's true, I'm not that into movies. Eliza Taylor is my #1. Check her out if you haven't already!!
Question #5 (asked via Twitter):
Q: "What are your plans on pursing music in the future?"
A: In the future, I obviously plan on pursuing music. It is one thing that I could not go a day without. Even though that's true, I don't necessarily know what the future holds or how music will be incorporated in it. I see myself continuing to post content and videos in the near future. As far as a career goes, I think working in the music business would be amazing. Being able to create music and create superstars would be a dream come true. I can't really say how music will be incorporated in my future, but you can count on the fact that it will always be in my life. I hope I get the chance one day to teach my kids how to play instruments and see if they love music just as much as I do.
Question #6 (asked via Email):
Q: "Are you enjoying your new internship? How is is going so far?"
A: Yes, I am loving my new internship! Thank you for asking! :) It's so cool to see how much you guys care about me and what's going on in my life! Anyways, yes the internship is amazing! I get to go work at some place that I love and do what I love each and every day. I also get the chance to meet a lot of new people in the entertainment business, which is crucial moving forward in my career. The contacts I have made and the relationships I have formed so far have been priceless. I also have learned more here in a couple of months than I did all 4 years of high school. I love learning in the real world and experiencing new things. I'm forever grateful for this opportunity that I have been given with this internship!
Question #7 (asked via Snapchat):
Q: "What is your dream job and how do you plan getting there one day?"
A: My dream job would include me getting to live in LA full-time, with the opportunity to travel. I want to be able to work with artists and change the music world. Getting able to create music and influence how others view this type of music would be incredible. I would love to get the chance to work not only on music, but also in the digital media industry. I think those 2 fields go hand-in-hand, which is perfect for me. I know how to use social media to my advantages, and I think a company could really use that when it comes to selling music. To get there, I honestly plan on just gaining more and more experience. After college, hopefully I find a job out in LA and I could more there to start my journey of obtaining my dream job!
Question #8 (asked via Twitter):
Q: "What inspired you to create your own website?"
A: One night, I want to say around 11:30pm, I had the most random thought placed into my head. I was thinking about ways to expose myself more and a place to establish myself, and a website quickly came to mind. I had taken a couple coding classes throughout high school, and I figured with a website such as Wix, I could combine my knowledge with their technology and create something great. I'm not going to lie, this process took such a long time. I worked extremely hard at creating this website and making it a place that I was proud to call my own. It truly is a place where I can express myself and interact with you guys even more than just my other social medias. I take a lot of pride when it comes to this website, and I hope you guys are enjoying it just as much as I am!
Question #9 (asked via Twitter):
Q: "Are there any secret talents that you have that no one knows about?"
A: I'm not sure if I have any secret talents, to be completely honest. I find myself trying a lot of new things and being successful at them usually. With that being said, I totally fail at some things as well. Some things I am talented at are playing instruments, baking, editing/filming, coding, ect. Those are just some things that I like to do and continue to grow at as time goes on. I also enjoy trying new things and learning new skills. I'll give anything a chance!
Question #10 (asked via Instagram):
Q: Describe yourself in three words. How do you feel other people view you?"
A: Three words to describe myself... Hmm.. I'd have to say: creative, passionate, and open-minded. I love to be creative and do new things. When it comes to my level of creativity, there's nothing holding me back from discovering something new. Whenever I do anything in life, I give it my all. I am extremely passionate about everything I do and everything that I love. It's important to me to follow my passions, no matter what they are. Lastly, I feel as if I am a very open-minded person. Even though some things may seem odd to me, I never shut them down without fully considering them first. In a changing society, you never know what may happen next. That's why I like to keep an open mind when doing anything in my life. I hope people see me as a person who is all of the things above. I also hope they see me as respectable and kind-hearted as well. I genuinely just want to be viewed as a positive person.
Question #11 (asked via Snapchat):
Q: "Are you ever going to create a public Facebook account?"
A: Most of you probably already know this by now, but I only have one Facebook account and it is private. I really only use it to keep up with friends and family members. I've been thinking about making a public one recently, however! What do you guys think?? Should I make one?? Let me know down in the comments and I'll start looking into that for you guys!
Question #12 (asked via Twitter):
Q: "What is your favorite thing about creating YouTube videos?"
A: There are so many things I love about creating videos. I think doing them has been some of the funnest memories I have in my life. Even though it's not necessarily easy, it's all worth it in the end. I have to say that my favorite part is the actually planning out of the YouTube videos. If you know me, then you know that I love to plan. I am a pro at organizing and researching, it's just what I do. I also love being creative and this is truly the part where I get to explore all of the possibilities. Although I do love the filming aspect, it wouldn't be possible without the planning part. Editing has to be my least favorite part because of how long it can takes at times. All in all, making YouTube videos takes a lot of time, but at the end of the day it is completely worth it.
Question #13 (asked via Snapchat):
Q: "If you could be anyone in the world for one day, who would it be and why?"
A: Honestly there are so many different people I would want to be. Life is full of so many different experiences, and I'd love to learn all about living a different life. As of now, I think it would be amazing to live as Kendall Jenner for a day. I mean c'mon... she gorgeous, she lives in LA, she drives a range, and shes friends with all of the hottest stars in Hollywood... How much better could life get? She also seems to love what she does, and I think I'd like to experience that for the day. I want to see just how different her life is from the average person. I honestly don't even know if I could handle it, but it'd be fun to try out for a day. I'm ready to switch lives for the day Kendall, whenever you are!!
Question #14 (asked via Instagram):
Q: "What was the first word you ever said and what was your earliest memory as a child?"
A: This is actually a funny story. I would say that my earliest memory was in fact when I said my first word. For some reason I remember it so clearly, which sounds very strange. My family and I were on vacation (the one we go on every year), and I was just starting to walk. One night my dad and I went back to our cabin and I remember him sitting down on the edge of the bed. I was thirsty and started reaching for the diet coke in his hands. He pulled the can back and said "you can have a drink if you say the word 'pop'..". I had never said a single word before, but for some reason I just really wanted a drink so I said it. "Pop!" Such a funny first word, but hey, I got the drink!
Question #15 (asked via Twitter):
Q: "What are your opinions on popular social issues occurring in our society right now?"
A: There are so many different social issues going on in our society right now, it's hard to pick which ones to talk about! Maybe in a later blog someone will ask me specifically, but for now I'll just tough very vaguely on social issues. I just want to say and encourage anyone reading this to have an open mind in life. I know that some things are hard to wrap your head around, but never shut someone down because of something that is weird to you. It's extremely important to love and accept everyone for who they are. Stop punishing people for their gender, their race, their sexuality, etc. We are all humans. I mean it's 2016, why can't everyone be loved for who they are? Just be positive and nice to people guys!
Question #16 (asked via Email):
Q: "Would you ever preform live if you had the opportunity?"
A: I actually would love the chance to preform live if the opportunity ever came up. Of course, I have like the worst anxiety in the world!! I would defiantly have to overcome that in order to play live, but it would also be so much fun. I'd also just like to have like little meet-ups where I bring my guitar and people can just come out and chill with me. I think that would be so much fun as well! But yeah, obviously if I had the chance I would to sing live for you guys.. Who knows, maybe someday!
Question #17 (asked via Twitter):
Q: "How long does it take for you to get ready in the morning? Describe your morning routine!"
A: I'm actually so proud of how much time I have cut out of my schedule when it comes to getting ready. It used to take me hours, which is just ridiculous! Now, it takes me between 40-45 minutes to get completely ready (including taking a shower). So my typical morning starts out with my jumping into the shower. I only take about 10 minute showers, so that is taken care of quickly. Next I typically just wrap my hair up, get dressed, and then move on to my makeup. After I finish most of my makeup, I brush through my hair, blow-dry it and then straighten it. After my hair is complete, I put on the last bit of makeup on and I am ready for the day! Nothing too exciting, but yeah, that's my typical morning routine!
Question #18 (asked via Snapchat):
Q: "Do you plan on making other YouTube videos, other than just covers in the future?"
A: Actually yes!! I am so so so excited to start making videos other than covers for my YouTube channel! I have so many ideas that I want to do, and I'm so excited to share those ideas with you! I'm not going to tell you specifically what I have in mind, but possibly some DIY videos, story-time videos, challenges, and maybe even some tags! I have contacted a couple different people and we have actually already started making plans to film. I find this so much more entertaining than just posting cover after cover for you guys. I am also always looking for new ideas, so if you happen to have any please be sure to comment your suggestions down below!
Question #19 (asked via Instagram):
Q: "Who has been your biggest supporter throughout your journey so far?"
A: I'd have to say that my family has been my biggest supports so far throughout my journey. They are always the ones encouraging me to spend more time doing my music. They are also the ones who I always talk to about my new ideas when it comes to music. Sometimes they think what I'm doing is crazy, but at the end of the day they love it. Anytime I need new devices or anything, they are willing to help me out and get them for me. They love that I have this passion and it has been something that I have loved for over 5 years. They can see that it truly is something I want to do in my future, and they encourage that. I'm just so thankful for everyone who has ever supported me!
Question #20 (asked via Twitter):
Q: ""Do you love your supporters just as much as they love you?"
A: Oh my gosh, yes absolutely!! Actually even more, if that's even possible. I couldn't even imagine life without you guys at this point. Everyday I can count on you to put a smile on my face, and I am so blessed for that. So many of you take the time out of your days, just to support me! That is so crazy and amazing to me! I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for everyone who supports me and my journey. Every tweet you send me, every Instagram picture you post, every vine edit you make reminds me of just how lucky I am to have you guys. I love each of you more than you could ever imagine! Thank you so so much loves!
